The philosophy of Empowered ageing
At Empowered Ageing, movement is not about pushing harder.
It is about moving smarter, feeling safer, and building trust in your body over time.
Some people arrive with pain, injuries, physical limitations, or fear of movement. Others feel generally healthy and active, but are looking for challenge, motivation, and a sense of community.

Not everybody should begin in the same place.
For some people, the right first step is private coaching, with calm guidance and full personal attention. For others, group classes can be a motivating and enjoyable way to keep growing.
Empowered Ageing offers both — with a clear focus on helping each person start where they are,
and progress in the most appropriate way.
How to choose the right starting point
- If you have pain, injuries, physical limitations, health concerns, or low confidence in movement, private coaching is usually the safest and most effective place to start.
- If you feel physically capable, independent, and already have a reasonable foundation of strength, mobility, balance, and coordination, group classes may be a good fit.
Many people believe they are ready for a class because they walk regularly or feel generally active. Walking is valuable, but it does not usually develop the wider physical abilities needed for a movement class, such as strength, mobility, balance, coordination, agility, and movement confidence.
Many clients begin with private coaching and later progress into small groups or regular classes when they are ready.

1. PRIVATE COACHING AT STUDIO
(Individual or Small Group)Available in Portimão and Lagos, this option is ideal for people who want individual attention in a dedicated coaching environment.
It is especially suitable for those who need a more personalised starting point due to pain, stiffness, injuries, health concerns, low confidence, or the need to rebuild important physical foundations.
2. PRIVATE COACHING AT HOME
(Individual or Small Group)
Available in selected areas of the Algarve, this is a more premium service for those who value privacy, convenience, discretion, and highly personalised support in the comfort of their own home.
It is ideal for clients who want expert movement coaching delivered with a high level of attention and care, without the need to travel.
Both private coaching options support a more personalised, progressive, and appropriate starting point when group classes are not yet the best fit.

Private movement coaching include:
- One-to-one or very small group sessions (up to 2 people)
- Initial assessment to understand your movement needs, limitations, and goals
- A fully personalised and progressive training approach
- Supportive, respectful guidance to rebuild strength, mobility, balance, and confidence.
Private sessions are often the starting point before progressing into small groups or group classes
Before joining a group class
Group classes can be a wonderful way to build strength, confidence, motivation, and enjoyment through movement. However, they are not always the right starting point for everyone.
As we age, especially after long periods of inactivity, it is common to lose strength, mobility, balance, coordination, agility, and movement confidence without fully realising it.
In a group setting, even with an excellent coach, it is not possible to provide the same level of individual adaptation and close supervision as in private coaching. If someone joins before they are physically ready, they may feel overwhelmed, frustrated, or try to copy more advanced participants in ways that are not appropriate for their body.
For this reason, if you are inactive, unsure of your readiness, or currently limited by pain, poor balance, stiffness, low strength, or low movement confidence, we recommend beginning with either:
- an introductory workshop, when available
- or private / small-group coaching, to build the right foundations first
This helps improve safety, reduce frustration, and create a more positive and successful experience.

2. Vital Flow Group Classes
Vital Flow is a dynamic and inclusive group class designed for active, independent adults who enjoy moving with others and value motivation, creativity, and consistency.
It combines functional and progressively challenging movement to support strength, mobility, flexibility, balance, coordination, fall prevention, and movement confidence.
Vital Flow classes:
- Support strength, mobility, flexibility, balance, and coordination
- Include functional, creative, and engaging movement approaches
- Offer motivation, challenge, and a sense of community
- Are best suited to people who already have a reasonable physical foundation
Vital Flow supports long-term movement confidence, enjoyment, and independence.
3. Ninja Warriors Private Group
Ninja Warriors is a playful and empowering private group class inspired by martial arts and functional movement.
It offers a fun and energising alternative to traditional workouts while helping participants develop strength, agility, flexibility, coordination, confidence, and body awareness.
Ninja Warriors focuses on:
- Strength, flexibility, balance, and coordination
- Simple self-defence-inspired movement patterns
- Training in a supportive small-group setting
- Confidence-building through playful challenge

Animal Flow is a ground-based movement training system that is both challenging and deeply rewarding.
It focuses on reconnecting with the body’s natural movement potential while developing strength, mobility, flexibility, coordination, control, and body awareness.
Animal Flow classes:
- Improve strength, mobility, flexibility, coordination, and body awareness
- Are adapted to suit mature bodies with an appropriate movement foundation
- Take place in small groups
- Offer a dynamic, mindful, and engaging movement experience
Animal Flow supports confidence, control, and freedom of movement.
5. Fall Prevention & Safe Landing
Build confidence, prevent injuries, and age with greater resilience
Falls are one of the leading causes of injury and loss of independence as we age. This service is designed to help mature adults build the skills, strength, confidence, and awareness needed both to reduce the risk of falling and to respond more safely if a fall happens.
- You will learn how to:
- Improve balance, reaction time, and spatial awareness
- Strengthen legs and joints for everyday stability
- Reduce fear of falling
- Learn safer falling and landing strategies
- Increase autonomy, safety, and resilience in daily life

Level 1: The Pillars – Rebuilding the Base
- Sit and stand from a chair without using your hands
- Get up from the floor without assistance

Level 2: Autonomy – Strengthening Independence
- Sit and stand from the floor with minimal assistance
- Walk 5–10 km comfortably
